Sally Van Cise has
been canoeing and camping since she was quite young.
As a child and teen, she went on family canoe trips
in Northern Minnesota. Since then, she has traveled
and camped in several areas, including: the Boundary
Waters, Northern Michigan, Southern Ontario and
Nepal. On many of her trips she traveled solo,
enjoying the beauty of Nature.
Sally is currently through the
American Canoe Association. Previously, she enrolled
in several courses through Outward
Bound, National Outdoor Leadership School, and
the American Alpine Institute. These courses emphasized
safe outdoor practices, natural education processes,
and low-impact Leave-No-Trace camping skills.
Sally has a Masters Degree in Public Health Nutrition,
and a Masters of Education in Exercise Science.
Currently she works full time as a Registered Dietitian
for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in Mt Pleasant,
Michigan.
